Job opening

Programme coordinator at NLnet foundation

Currently open

NLnet is looking for an enthusiastic, resourceful and people oriented Programme coordinator. As programme coordinator your main task is to let our programmes run smoothly — and make the most out of the available talent and means. You support applicants, grantees and partners to be more efficient and complete their work in time. You help schedule support and track progress, and unburden applicants and grantees where possible. You keep the overview of the whole programme lifecycle, making sure reports and deliverables become available in time.

NLnet is a public benefit organisation established in 1989. As a small foundation with a big mission we work with hundreds of free and open source projects from around the world on all layers of technology and with a network of trusted support partners. As project coordinator you keep our projects on the right track.

  • communicate with and about participants in funded open source projects, representatives of the European Commission and our partner organisations
  • organize webinars and workshops on technical and organizational topics of importance for R&D projects;
  • share results and progress of funded projects on (decentralized) social media, via news/press releases and other online channels
  • write (periodic) reports on our funds and you publish accessible texts about projects

All in all, as programme coordinator, you have a to-do list of great variety.

You are a driven and organizationally strong individual with a hands on mentality. A real process monitor with eye for detail, and strong people skills. With your positive and constructive attitude, you get things done. Furthermore, you:

  • have an academic level of work and thinking;
  • have general knowledge of and interest in open source software and hardware development
  • have some experience using open source software and operating systems (or willingness/ability to learn quickly about open source)
  • are eager to learn and willing to dive into potentially unknown areas of knowledge
  • are stress resistant and able to keep an overview of multi-year programs and important deadlines
  • proactively communicate and connect parties with different technical and organizational backgrounds (open source developers with policy officers, etc.)

You will have a responsible and rewarding job in an informal and hard working not-for-profit, serving the free and open source community to the best of their abilities. Your contribution is of great importance to make everything run smoothly, and in return you will have a lot of room to deepen your skills as a professional. As a grantmaker we directly work with some of the very best people in technology, and see what they come up before almost anyone else — and you will learn every day. You will have the opportunity to dive into interesting projects (both big and small) and engage with state of the art technology.

If you are passionate about free and open source software, and believe that we should not wait for others to fix the problems of technology today - then this is the ideal position for you!

We offer:

  • an attractive market-based salary based on knowledge and experience
  • Lots of responsibility and room for personal growth and open source contributions
  • Work in an exciting international context with cutting edge technology and an amazing community.
  • a full travel allowance if you travel with public transport
  • a hybrid workplace, we are in the office twice a week on average
  • 27 vacation days and the possibility to accrue additional days
  • an excellent pension scheme: NLnet pays 67% of the premium
  • space for education and training
  • laptop
  • reimbursement for (mobile) phone
  • a gross allowance per month for an internet subscription at home
