What is the workshop about?
P4P, Peer-4-Peer, or Peer-for-Peer, is a category of protocols which combine the qualities of local-first with Peer-2-Peer (P2P) and open-source ethos. Characterized by protocols such as NextGraph, Scuttlebutt, P2Panda, PZP, Earthstar, Willow, Radicle.xyz and many more, the networks provide routing agnostic features enabling offline as well as online usage. The term has relatively recently gained popularity as opposed to longer descriptives such as “offline-first, peer-to-peer and open-source networks ” and it’s origins stem back to a conference in 2023 by the same name which gathered protocol developers and enthusiasts. .
Format: Facilitated networking
Community workshops aim to bring together communities of practice. People with shared interests and/or similar goals are invited to get to know each other through facilitated networking. Each workshop focuses on a specific theme or field. The aim is to weave communities and people together who are working on or interested in the same theme. The format is a 2 hour workshop in which we will explore shared challenges and questions, exchanging ideas and as an outcome we aim for aligning on potential concrete next steps.
Hybrid: host a local node
Are there more P4P enthusiasts in your area? If you would like to host a local node as part of the workshop (so people can meet up in person as well) please fill in this form and Zenna will reach out to you with further information. Registered local nodes will be visible on www.p4p.wiki closer to the workshop date. More information can be found on the form.
Co-organized with DWeb
The event is organized together with DWeb connects the people, projects and protocols essential to building a decentralized web. A web that is more private, reliable, secure and open. A web with many winners—returning to the original vision of the World Wide Web and internet. Since 2016 DWeb has been a bridge enabling diverse communities to freely exchange ideas about the technologies, values, markets and agreements we need to move forward.
Offical launch of the P4P wiki
This event will not only connect developers, enthusiasts and organizations around the topic of P4P and decentralized networks but it will also be the official launch of www.p4p.wiki.
