Power ISA Desktop
Open Hardware Desktop prototype designed for GNU/Linux on Power ISA
Power ISA is a feature-rich reduced instruction set computer (RISC) instruction set architecture (ISA), which unlike x86 or ARM is available under a fully open license. This project takes the first steps towards bringing this to end users in a system designed around GNU/Linux and Free Software. The project will double down on the existing work on a desktop version, getting the core computing platform stable and functional. This Desktop board would also bring the possibility to ease free software development for the Power architecture, in parallel to tackling the restrictions and complexities of a laptop form factor. An underlying goal is to encourage communities and students to acquire the skills and capabilities necessary to produce hardware and software independently and to have control over it.
