FileSender Open Cloud Mesh
Move very large files across remote data storage systems
FileSender is an open-source, web-based application for sending large files quickly and securely, that is licensed under the BSD license. Among others, Filesender has become the de-facto tool for data transport among universities. Currently, FileSender can upload files from the sending user’s local computer and download it to the recipient user’s local computer. This project will add support for an emerging standard call Open Cloud Mesh, which would allow users to directly move files from and to any OCM compatible storage solution. This functionality not only simplifies workflows, but makes possible scenarios where the saving of files in intermediate locations is either impractical or proscribed by policy or regulation. This functionality would de-silofy lots of data and help to create more data portability, even for the very largest of files.
