Dokieli Knowledge Organisation
Standards-based writing, annotating and publishing on the web
Dokieli is a free and open source editor for writing, annotating and publishing on the web, designed around user autonomy and universal access. Built entirely on open web standards, it shows how much control people can have over their own identity, data and publishing. Content lives in storage people choose, works with any tool that follows the same standards, and dokieli's core is available as reusable libraries. dokieli does not track, profile, or collect data about you.
This project extends dokieli into a decentralised content and knowledge management system, filling a gap in the decentralised web ecosystem. Researchers, journalists and writers often spread their notes, sources and drafts across separate services. The project adds a dashboard and search across a person's storages, shared tags and templates, a visual map of their work, and role-based sharing. Saved annotations can be brought directly into an article, with citations kept connected to their sources so readers can trace and respond to claims. Publishing reaches the social web, with quality checks and archiving. The result is a unified workflow from research to publishing and feedback, in which people keep ownership of their content.
