Dasher v6
Predictive text entry without a keyboard
Dasher is a legendary text-entry system enabling the fastest writing speeds available for users who control a computer via continuous movement like head tracking, eye gaze, or joysticks. Despite its 25-year legacy as a lifeline for disabled people worldwide, the codebase has suffered from a lack of maintenance. This project delivers a complete modernization of Dasher, integrating fresh user experience research and modern architecture. By rebuilding the system with direct input from accessibility design squads, Dasher v6 will streamline onboarding, improve prediction pipelines, and secure a sustainable, open-source foundation for the next generation of assistive communication.
