Bisque

New Web browser based on Servo engine

Bisque is a new open-source Web browser, built around the Servo rendering engine, that integrates the Web deeply with the native desktop. The browser is the main workspace for many, but has become a mini-OS within the host OS. Many browsers use this separation to try to drive adoption of their vendors' cloud services while removing control and sovereignty from users. In contrast to standard browser design, Bisque will actively "bring in" the surrounding desktop, while also exposing its own state transparently; for example, bookmarks and history as plain files and directories, or browser tab state and pages' DOMs as FUSE file systems. We take inspiration from past systems such as Plan 9 and BeOS/Haiku that integrate new services deeply within the OS while targeting a standard Linux desktop environment.
