ActivityPub4J
Reusable ActivityPub Foundation for Java
ActivityPub4J aims to make the Fediverse more accessible to the Java ecosystem. While ActivityPub enables independent services to communicate through an open standard, Java developers currently lack a mature and reusable foundation for adding this capability to their applications. ActivityPub4J will provide an open-source, framework- independent Java library with the essential building blocks for secure and interoperable federation, backed by documentation, automated testing, and real-world interoperability testing. The library will also be put into practice in the open-source projects FitPub and Komunumo, providing real-world validation across different application domains and helping ensure that it is practical and easy to adopt. Instead of having to implement ActivityPub from scratch, developers will be able to build on this common foundation, making it easier for new Java-based services to become part of the open and decentralised social web.
This project was funded through the NGI0 Commons Fund, a fund established by NLnet with financial support from the European Commission's Next Generation Internet programme, under the aegis of DG Communications Networks, Content and Technology under grant agreement No 101135429. Additional funding is made available by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).
