RELOAD Enrollment Infrastructure
X509 certificate distribution for IETF RELOAD (RFC 6940)
The RELOAD Enrollment Infrastructure aims to implement a REST interface allowing the creation of users accounts with associated email addresses which will also double as SIP addresses, and emit X.509 certificates for those accounts after validating the ownership of the email address. Each participant in the P2P network will thus receive a digital identity that proves that they are the owner of said email/SIP address, allowing them to prove their identity to the party they communicate with. The certificate is also used to sign and encrypt P2P communication in order to avoid identity theft and fraud.
The framework will be made generic enough that it could easily be adapted to support other usages where a central authority emits digital X.509 certificates for the purpose of serving as digital identities and/or digital signatures for their users.
