P2Panda Support Nodes Powered by Willow
Peer-to-peer systems struggle with data availability problems if they solely rely on replication between end user devices. We plan an infrastructure of “support nodes” to act as an optional, reliable backbone. These support nodes will store key-value data via the Willow data model. We will specify and implement the Willow Transfer Protocol, a request-response protocol for communication both between support nodes internally and between support nodes and end user devices. We will implement data storage for the p2panda project in these support nodes, but will keep the underlying infrastructure sufficiently generic to also be of use to other peer-to-peer protocols.
This project was funded through the NGI0 Commons Fund, a fund established by NLnet with financial support from the European Commission's Next Generation Internet programme, under the aegis of DG Communications Networks, Content and Technology under grant agreement No 101135429. Additional funding is made available by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).
