Mobile Nixos on Qualcomm Snapdragon devices
Get reproducible operating system and apps on mobile phones
NixOS Mobile is a project that brings the NixOS Linux distribution to mobile devices. It leverages NixOS's declarative reproducible configuration model to manage the full software stack from the bootloader and kernel to the graphical shell on Qualcomm hardware. The project targets a range of Snapdragon devices particularly those with stronger mainline Linux kernel support such as Snapdragon 845 based phones like the OnePlus 6/6T or newer devices based on QCS6490 such as the Fairphone 5. As NixOS treats the entire system configuration as code users can define their mobile environment in a single .nix file. This enables atomic rollbacks and reproducible builds across devices. The result is an open-source alternative to Android that prioritizes long-term support and eliminates the fragmentation typical of the Android ecosystem therefore giving users a phone OS that is fully under their control and built to last.
