Integrate json-joy CRDT in Lexical editor
Lexical is a modern open-source rich-text editor used by Meta, Proton Docs, PayPal, and others, but it lacks a reliable solution for real-time collaborative editing: the only existing integration loses or scrambles text during common operations like splitting or merging paragraphs. This project builds a collaborative editing integration between Lexical and json-joy Peritext, an open-source rich-text CRDT that preserves concurrent edits correctly - the same technology already integrated with the ProseMirror and Slate editors. It will deliver a bi-directional data synchronization as a Lexical plugin, fuzz testing, and public documentation with an interactive demo.
This project was funded through the NGI0 Commons Fund, a fund established by NLnet with financial support from the European Commission's Next Generation Internet programme, under the aegis of DG Communications Networks, Content and Technology under grant agreement No 101135429. Additional funding is made available by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).
